BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The Bureau of Land Management will close the upper 8th Street, Boise Foothill access road to prevent road damage during wet and winter conditions.
“The purpose of this seasonal road closure has always been to prevent road damage from full-size vehicle use when the roadbed is wet and easily rutted,” said David Draheim, BLM outdoor recreation planner. “This annual closure has gone a long way toward minimizing erosion and road maintenance costs and preventing other resource damage from occurring each year.”
This seasonal closure only effects full-sized vehicles and is in effect from Dec. 1 to May 15. The closure begins 2.8 miles from the Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center.
It will stay open for off-highway vehicles 50 inches in width or less, motorcycles, mountain bikes and all other non-motorized use.
