Boise seventh grader 'an inspiration' on and off the court

A Boise seventh-grader with special needs made a big jump shot this week against West Jr. High.

The Riverglen basketball player is a good dribbler and has good ball control.

But Bradley Blakeslee is an even better person.

"He's been an inspiration and has been so positive," said Marc Lannon, Riverglen Jr. High's athletic director. "He has a superb positive attitude and it has rippled through the school."

Blakeslee is such a determined kid that he's played for the school's football and wrestling teams before joining the basketball squad. In fact, the football team even created "Bradley's Play" last fall for the youngster.

Having Blakeslee experience being part of a team is what's really been special -- and the other teams cooperating and enjoying the experience.

"The sportsmanship is what we're really proud of," Lannon said. "The community of Boise Schools..."

Lannon posted the video of Blakeslee's basket this week and it has received more than 1,600 views.

"He has a new level of confidence," he said.

Blakeslee and the rest of his teammates take on Fairmont later Thursday.
