Crews continue to focus on the Wapiti Fire burning dangerously close to Stanley. Firefighters worked to get the flames under control during Monday night's back burn operations on Iron Creek Road. Air tankers created a retardant line south of Iron Creek and east of Highway 21.

Officials say winds on Tuesday are expected to push the flames southeast towards the city. Crews continued to focus on protecting homes, and firefighters spent time prepping homes and buildings for the fire.

The Wapiti Fire has burned over 70,000 acres, nearly as much as Meridian and Boise combined. Another community meeting discussing the fire will be held tonight at the fire station in Lowman at 6 p.m.

Crews will also talk about the Middle Fork Complex Fire at the meeting. Those fires are burning over 47,000 acres, almost as big as Boise. The fire is five percent contained. Army crews continue to work on the blazes burning in the Boise National Forest.

Over 1,000 people are working on the West Mountain Complex Fires. Crews focus on the Snag Fire and are mopping up around Warm Lake Road. They have even put out flames near a cabin before it could spread to the building.
